How can I as a Christian communicate with a non Christian？我作为一个基督徒怎么样跟一个非基督徒交通呢？Some mission professors tell us 有的宣教的教授告诉我们：oh，you have to understand their culture 你们要明白他们的文化背景。Yes，we do need to understand their culture，是的，当然我们需要了解他们的文化背景，Chinese being a adult we’ve got to understand our next generation’s culture作为成年的中国人，我们需要了解我们下一代的文化的背景。
I haven’t said that 但是除了这一点以外，deep down inside every human being’s heart 在每一个人的心灵深处，we all have the same ancestor，我们有同样的一个祖宗，that means the differences between cultures意思是文化之间的不同 these differences are not absolute differences 这些不同不是绝对的不同，the number of cultural differences are limited，not limitless 文化间不同的数量是有限的，不是无限的。Some of us don’t like to deal with people who are different from us，我们中间有些人不愿意与不同文化背景的人接触，most of us Chinese have this problem 我们大多数的中国人有这个问题。I realize you’ve been laughing a lot during my message 我注意到在我复兴信息的时候你们很多人在笑。When you really understand what I am saying 当你们真的明白我在讲什么的时候，you should be crying 你们应该在哭。OK now，I’ll give you three years，you can cry at home，OK？我给你们三年，你们可以回家去哭。
Many of our young people understand that people are different很多的年轻人，他们明白人是不同的。our young people are color blind 我们年轻的一代他们都是色盲they don’t care whether their friends are black or Mexican，Korean or white他们不在乎自己的朋友是黑人、墨西哥人、韩国人或是白人，why is it possible for us to communicate with people who are different？是什么叫我们可以与不同文化背景的人交流呢？because all mankind have the same ancestors 因为我们就是有同一个祖先，and we did not just evolve from different monkeys and apes 我们并不是从不同的猴子、不同的猿类进化来的。Now I hope you are thinking along with me 我希望你们跟我一同思考，I’ve been talking about some absolute truth 我在讲论绝对的真理。
let me repeat让我再重复一次，the most basic need of mankind is worship 人类最基本的需要是敬拜，but every non Christian worships one idol or another 每一个非基督徒都敬拜这样或那样的偶像。But we all know God from our our heart 但是我们每个人都从心底里面知道神，God has spoken to us 因为神已经对我们讲话 therefore language is borrowed from God 所以语言是神借给我们的。God is Lord 神是主宰，he does not need our worship，祂并不需要我们的敬拜。
Now in verse 25，现在看26节，mankind has only one ancestor 人类只有一个祖宗，that means cultural differences are limited，not limitless 因此文化背景的不同是有限的，不是无限的。Now verse 26 the second half，第26节下半，God has determined your years and your places 上帝定准你们的年限和疆界。What does years mean？年限是什么意思？History就是历史，there are a lot of dwelling place boundary of a dwelling place，what does that mean？疆界是什么意思呢？Geography就是地理. You put history and geography together 你把历史跟地理放在一起的时候，your culture就是你的文化。
Paul is saying 所以保罗在这边讲到 your culture is not an accident 你们的文化背景并不是偶然的 God decided that you were born in China，Taiwan or Hong Kong etc. 因为神已经决定你生在中国、台湾、香港或者是其他地方。God decided that you came to America in 1965，or 75，or 95，神决定你是在1956还是75、95来美国，God decided whether you came to America after the communist revolution or after the cultural revolution or after 1997，神决定你是在解放前，文革前，或者是1997之前来美国。
Young people，God decided who your parents are. 年轻人，上帝决定谁是你们的父母，and you need to understand a little bit of Chinese history 你要知道一点中国的历史，in order to understand your parents 好了解你们的父母亲，then you can come home in your heart to your parents 所以你们可以在心底里回到父母身边。God has decided our history and our cultural background 神决定了我们的历史跟我们的文化背景，so if we understand that we are mainland Chinese intellectuals 所以如果我们知道我们是大陆的知识分子，then we need to understand what our idols are 我们就可以明白我们的偶像是什么。Perhaps our idols is the American dream，可能我们的偶像是美国梦，if we are from Taiwan and Hong Kong，假如我们是从台湾或者香港来的，probably our idols are the same it’s a zip code 我们的偶像可能是一样的，邮政区号。If we are American born Asians 假如我们是美国生的亚裔，what are our idols？我们的偶像是什么？Perhaps privacy and leisure，可能就是隐私权和休闲。You can think of others 你们可以想到其他的。
Now let’s read on in verse 27，再从27节看下去，God is saying that your cultural background is not an accident神说你们的文化背景并不是一个偶然的事情，so why were you Chinese，born Chinese and living in America today？为什么你是一个中国人住在美国呢？the Bible gives us an answer 圣经给我们一个答案，verse 27，27节，that they should seek God，and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. 要叫他们寻求 神，或者可以揣摩而得，其实他离我们各人不远。
Now I don’t know how to explain this verse，我不知道该怎样解释这一节，but I what this verse says 都是我知道这一节在说什么，God has given you your cultural background 神给了你文化背景，and it has something to do with your coming to Jesus Christ 这个是与你来就耶稣基督有关。Our lives are not an accident，我们的生命不是偶然偶然，we must understand what the idols are in our culture我们必须知道我们文化背景里面的偶像是什么。
that’s what verse 29 says这是29节所讲的，we must not think that God is like an idol 我们不应该把神想象成偶像，verse 30 says that we must repent of our sin，30节说，我们一定要悔改我们的罪，because one day God will judge all of us 因为有一天上帝要审判我们所有的人。Now it’s very interesting how Paul goes from our cultural background to God’s judgment 所以非常的有趣，我们看到保罗如何从文化的背景讲到神的审判，they are absolute truth这些是绝对真理。Sin is sin，罪就是罪，and God calls sin is sin 上帝说罪就是罪。
Psychologists like to change the name，心理学家喜欢改换名称，they like to say most people are sick 他们喜欢说很多人是病了，and if you’re familiar with a book called DSM-IV（Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders， Fourth Edition ）假如你们对一本书叫DSM-IV《精神障碍诊断与统计手册（第四版）》有熟悉的话，this is a book that psychiatrists use to look up diseases，psychiatrists use this book to look up the names of illnesses。很多的心理学家就靠这本书去看那些病的名称。Do you know that they invent new diseases？你知道他们常常在发明新的病的名称吗？And homosexuality is no longer a disease in DSM，同性恋现在不再称为是一种病了，it is no longer listed in DSM不在那本书的列表里了。Psychology has been changing sin into diseases 心理学他们就把罪变成了病。I’m not saying that every emotional problem is a direct result of our sin 我当然不是说每一种感情问题都是罪的直接后果。
But there are certain emotional problems that nothing to do with the brain or our body chemistry 但是有些的情感问题跟我们的大脑和化学物质毫无关系。I will name two：homosexuality and alcoholism 我可以说出两种：同性恋和酗酒。There are two diseases that are the result of physical problems 也有两种的问题是身体原因造成的：I will name two 我告诉你们两样：brain injury and Alzheimer’s disease 就是脑神经受伤和阿尔茨海默氏症 then there are some problems that are mixture of physical problems and spiritual problems 也有一些就是我们问题跟属灵的问题混合的 depression is one of them 抑郁就是其中一种，the Bible calls sin sin for a reason 因为圣经里面说罪是罪，是有原因的。the Bible doesn’t change the name sin into mental illness 圣经没有把罪换个名字叫精神疾病。because if we are only mentally sick 假如我们只是精神有病的话then all that we can hope for is therapy and pills 那样我们所盼望的只能够是治疗和药物的控制。
now if you’re already taking pills，I’m not telling you to stop taking pills，okay？假如你现在已经在用药的，我不会叫你停药。（笑声） This is not funny，because we must not interfere what doctors are doing 这个并不好笑，因为我们不能干扰医生的治疗。and doctors who prescribe pills are responsible to God for giving them those pills 医生他们在开方的时候，他们最后是要向上帝负责任的。but I am saying that the Bible calls sin sin，because forgiveness is available through the blood of Jesus我要说的是，圣经说罪是罪，因为透过耶稣的宝血有赦罪的恩典。
I will repeat 我再重复一遍，I’m not saying every emotional problem is a result of sin and none of it has physical causes 我不是说每一种感情问题都是罪的结果，没有生理上的原因。I’m also not saying if you’re taking pills，stop taking them； I’m not saying that. 我不是说你们现在吃药的，停止不要再吃，我没有那样说。But I am saying the Bible calls sin sin，it is the most loving thing God can do 我说得是圣经说罪是罪，这是神对我们最大的爱的作为。It is the only source of hope 给是我们盼望的唯一源泉。Sin is called sin，because forgiveness is available for anybody who repent of his or her sin因为罪称为罪，因为每一个肯悔改的人有赦罪的恩典。
The word sin is not popular today 今天罪这个名词非常的不受欢迎，thirteen years ago 13年前，a woman and her husband entered the White House of the United States 一个女人跟她的丈夫进到美国白宫，since that day January，1993，从1993年1月那一天开始，we have to relearn a word it has now a new meaning 我们要重新去学一个字，它现在有新的意思，the word is toleration就是“容忍”这个字。You see，before 1993，你看到在1993年以前，especially before nineteen seventy 或者是远一点 1970年代，what does the word toleration mean？那个容忍是什么意？It means you may be a Mormon or a Jew，I’m a Christian你可能是一个摩门教徒或者是一个犹太教徒，我是基督徒，I don’t agree with what you believe 我跟你的信仰不同，I believe that what you’re believing is not the truth 我相信你所信的是不对的，but God created you 但是神是创造你的，therefore you have dignity as a human being你们有人的尊严。and the United States constitution protects your religious freedom 美国的宪法保护你们宗教信仰的自由。
so while I pray that you become a Christian，because you’re human being you have dignity所以当我为你祷告，希望你成为一个基督徒的时候，因为你是人，是有尊严的。Young people，that was in the stone age，that was long long time ago，that was in the stone age.年轻人，那是石器时代，很久很久以前了。Today the word “toleration” has a new meaning，在今天“容忍”这个字有新的意思，the word tolerance means that you must believe that everybody’s beliefs are true今天“容忍”的意思是，你一定要承认任何人所信的就是真理。That is why America is an anti- Christian country 指就是为什么美国是一个反基督教的国家。America never was a Christian country，美国从来不是一个基督教国家，America was a cooperative project between Christians and Diets美国是基督教和自然神论的一个产物。
Who were the Deism自然神论是谁呢？Benjamin Franklin和Thomas Jefferson 就是富兰克林和杰斐逊，they’re not Christians他们不是基督徒，they believe in God他们相信有一个神，but they don’t believe in miracles但是他们不相信有神迹，they don’t believe in sin他们不相信有罪，they don’t believe in salvation 他们不相信救恩，they don’t believe in hell他们不相信有地狱。
America is a it’s a country today that is hostile to the truth 今天的美国是一个敌对真理的国家。Now what does that mean for young people？这对年轻的一代有什么意思呢？If you believe the Bible contains absolute truth，假如你们相信圣经里面有绝对真理的话 and a good friend of you have sinned 你的一个好朋友犯了罪。Now you belong to a generation that knows how to treat people very warmly with great empathy and respect 你们所属的时代是知道怎么样去对待人、温暖人、尊重人的。But you also need to know how to confront people with love about sin. 但是你还要知道如何用一个爱心去面责人的罪，you cannot run away from your own sin and the sin of your brothers and sisters你不可以逃避自己的罪和弟兄姊妹的罪。you have inherited a broken society 你们承受了一个破碎的社会。
Those of you from Mainland China你们从中国大陆来的 you know that your society is broken你们知道你们的社会是破碎的。So we are in the same problem所以我们所面对的问题是同样的。Whether we are Asian Americans or Mainland Chinese，不管我们是美籍华裔还是中国大陆来的。By the way，these are the two groups that will take over the Chinese church in North America。
顺便一说，这俩个群体是接管北美华人教会的群体。I’m from Hong Kong我是从香港来的，I belong to the workhorse generation，we gotta be very busy serving the church 我属于劳碌工作的一代，忙着服事教会。But we’re Gonna retire我们不久要退休了。Asian Americans，Mainland Chinese，you are the future of the Chinese church 美籍华裔和中国大陆来的，你们就是华人教会的未来，and both of you come from or grew up in a broken society 你们都是从一个破碎的社会来的。How do we rebuild a broken society 我们怎样重建一个破碎的社会呢？By loving and evangelizing one person at a time用爱心把福音一个一个地传给他们，and build up small groups so you’re responsible to one another 建立小组，可以互相负责。That’s the meaning of a church 这个就是教会的意思，to bring back to restore your brothers and sisters把你的弟兄姐妹挽回来 G6:1-2，加拉太书第六章第1-2节。
There have never been as many resources for evangelism as the twenty first century传福音的资源没有比21世纪的更丰富的了，but there has never been as many needs 需要也是空前的大。We are some of the most fortunate human beings that are living on the face of this earth 我们今天是活在这地上最幸运的一群人。But what message do we have to proclaim 但是我们要宣讲什么信息呢？Do we believe in absolute truth？我们是否相信一个绝对的真理？and are we willing to take that absolute truth in a spirit of love to broken people？我们是否愿意把这个绝对的真理在一个爱的心里面 向其他的人宣讲呢？
young people how old will you be in 2016？年轻人在2016年的时候，你将会有多大年纪？Where will you be in 2016？2016年的时候你会在哪里？I know I’ll be collecting my retirement payments in 2016，我知道我在2016年的时候，我可以拿到退休金，and you will be deacons and Sunday school teachers in the church 但是你们可能成为教会里面的执事或主日学老师，department head in computer company 可能在电脑公司做部门的头，Doctors，nurses and pharmacist 可能做医生、做护士、做药剂师，professional licensed architects and engineers 可能做专业注册建筑师和工程师。You will be teaching children and teenagers 你们会教导小孩子和青少年。
Will you be teaching them absolute truth？你们会教导他们绝对真理吗？And will you be doing it as you typically do in a spirit of tenderness 你们愿意用柔和的灵去这样做吗？And those of us are older，what will we do to encourage and support our young adult？我们年长的这一辈，我们怎么样去鼓励支持这些年轻人呢？I’ve been saying some very difficult things我一直对你们讲一些实在是很困难的事。

Let me recommend two books to you 我给你们介绍两本书，this book is called Every Thought Captive《将人的心意夺回》，it is a textbook on apologetics for high school students 这是一本书给高中生的护教教科书。So it should not be too difficult for adults to read 所以对成年人来讲不应该太难读。The other book is called Apologetic for the Glory of God 另外一本书是说《护教为了神的荣耀》。
I’d like to conclude with a hymn.今天我愿意以一首诗歌来作为结束，I’ll be going to the piano 我会去弹钢琴 as a drummer or if a worshiping guitarist if you can play along Amazing Grace all four verses，those of us who have a Chinese handbook has all four verses，those of us who have only three verses one and four，but I hope you will tolerate us as we sing all four verses of Amazing Grace，after that，I’d like to ask Jim Chen to lead us in prayer. 鼓手和吉他手可以跟我一起演奏《奇异恩典》，全部四段，有的只有三段，有的只有第一跟第四段，我盼望你们能忍耐我们唱完全部的四段，之后请Jim Chen 带领祷告。
