Now，we’re gonna consider Paul M.Elliott’s second article，Tim Keller’s Gutless “Gospel”，下面我们会考虑到Paul M.Elliott博士的第二篇文章，就是提摩太·凯勒的毫无勇气的、畏缩的所谓福音。
A segment from an interview with Tim Keller shows just how gutless his “gospel” is，下面我们会摘录一段提摩太·凯勒接受的访问，展示出他的所谓福音是多么的毫无勇气的，- a mass of evasions，一大堆的逃避，equivocations，似是而非的话，and misrepresentations of God’s truth.而且把上帝的真理说错。
我把第一段跳过了，I’m gonna skip the first paragraph，它是温习第一讲的，第一篇文章的，here he summarizes the first article。
We are going to analyze Keller’s false gospel point by point.我们会一点一点地逐点地分析凯勒的假福音。But before we do that，没有做这件事情之前，I want our readers to see what a gutless “gospel” it is.首先我想读者能看到，提摩太·凯勒的福音是多么的毫无勇气的。
In the segment below，Keller is being interviewed by NBC News correspondent Martin Bashir，who attends Keller’s church.下面我们摘录了凯勒接受的访问，是他的会友NBC的记者Martin Bashir对他的访问。The occasion was an August 2011 meeting sponsored by the Veritas Forum，a broadly-ecumenical campus “faith” organization.那次的场合是在2011年8月份 Veritas论坛所主办的一次的会议。（Veritas论坛是一个超宗教的校园的信仰的组织。）

Martin Bashir: Do you believe that there is only one God，and that there is only one way to approach that God?访问者：你是否相信只有一位独一真神，而来到这个神的面前唯有一条的道路呢？
Tim Keller: If…yes，if….okay，yes，if…I’m speaking as a Christian here…if Jesus Christ is who he says he is，if he is the Son of God from heaven，if he is，uh，if he really was bodily raised from the dead，and if he was our original Creator，if all that’s true，that’s what he says，then of course there’d have to be just one way to God，because our souls would need him，or they would shrivel eternally，just like your body needs food or it would shrivel.假如呃……是的，假如呃……OK，是了，假如呃……我是身为基督徒这样讲的，呃……假如耶稣基督是祂所说的，假如祂是从天上来的神的儿子，假如祂是呃……假如祂真地身体从死里复活，假如祂是我们原来的创造主，假如这些都是真的，那这个就是祂所说的，那么呢，当然就只有一条道路去上帝那里，因为我们的灵魂就需要祂，不然他们就会在永恒里萎缩，就好像我们的身体需要食物，不然也会萎缩的。
I mean，the fact is my body here needs food or it would shrivel，that’s not narrow-minded to say，that’s just the way it is.我的意思是说，事实上我的身体是需要食物的，不然它会萎缩，这个并不是一个狭窄的思想，这个就是事实的本身。If Jesus is who he said he is，then our souls would have to get him in order to be eternally full and thrive.假如耶稣就是祂所宣称的那一位，那么我们的灵魂就需要得到祂才能够在永恒里是丰满的，是活泼的。And if we don’t get him，假如我们没有得到祂的话呢，then we would eternally shrivel.我们就会在永恒里萎缩。
So，to say…it seems so narrow，to claim that there’s only one way to God，to say that actually precludes the possibility that Jesus is who he says he is.因此呢，假如说呃……好像很多狭窄哈，宣称只有一条道路通往上帝，这样说就好像就排除了一个可能性，就是耶稣是祂所说祂所是的。
I mean，if he is who he says he is，then that’s what we’re，that’s what we have to say.我的意思是说，假如祂是祂所说所是的，那我们就是that’s what we are，那我们就是这样子，我们就要这样说喽。If he’s not who he says he is，假如耶稣不是祂所说的，then of course it’s narrow…，那当然是这个思想上是狭窄的，So basically you have to sit down and ask yourself the question about the facts about Jesus’ life and look at that.因此基本上你就要坐下来问你自己，耶稣的一生那些事实，你要好好地去看一下。
And not，not say，”I don’t even want to look at Jesus，I don’t even want to hear the claims of Christianity because they seem so exclusive.”你不要说：“哎呀，我甚至不愿意去看一看耶稣，我不愿意去听基督教的宣称，因为他们听起来是很排他主义的。”
Bashir: So where does that leave the millions of Muslims，Sikhs and Jews?那些成千上万的回教徒、锡克教的和犹太教徒又怎么样呢？Are they sadly and completely deluded?他们是不是很不幸地完全地蒙蔽的呢？
Keller: 凯勒说，People who never heard about Jesus，or never really got a hearing about Jesus…，那些从来没有听过耶稣和从来没有真正听清楚关于耶稣的……

Bashir: I’m not talking about them，我不是在讲他们，because some of those people have heard about [Jesus]. 我不是在讲他们，因为很多这些人听过祂的，听过耶稣的。I’m talking about the millions of Muslims，Sikhs and Jews who have heard about Jesus.我在讲的是那些听过关于耶稣的回教、锡克教徒跟犹太教徒。Where does your thesis leave them?你的论点的含义是，他们的情况是如何呢
Keller: 凯勒回答，Where they are right now，it means that if there’s never any change，they don’t get Jesus.他们现在怎么样情况呢，就是说假如他们没有改变，他们没有得到耶稣。If he is who he says he is，假如耶稣是祂所说所是那一位，then，long term，they don’t have God.那长远来说他们就没有上帝了。

If on the other hand，uh，you know，all I can always say about this is God gives me，even as a minister with the Scripture，a lot of information on a need-to-know basis.另外一方面，呃，你知道了，我只能说的就是说，上帝给我，就算我是一个牧师呢，只是给我足够的资料，是要看我需要多少就给我多少。And a need-to-know basis means，我需要多少上帝告诉我多少的意思就是说，”Here’s all I can tell you:我只能告诉你这么多，unless you get Jesus Christ who created you to start with，unless you are re-…uh…united with him sometime，there is no eternal future of thriving.”我只能告诉你这个，除非你得到那位创造你的耶稣，除非你呃呃呃……跟祂在某一个时候联合，你就没有一个活泼的永恒的未来。It just makes sense.很合理呀。
Again，I’m trying to go back to this idea that，that，if he is who he says he is，you’ve got to have him.啊，我又回到这个刚才所讲的，就是说，假如耶稣是祂所说所是的，你应该得到祂。If right now a person doesn’t have him，he or she needs to get him.假如现在有一个人没有耶稣，祂需要得到耶稣。If，if they，if they die and they’ve never，if they die and they don’t have Jesus Christ，I don’t know.假如他们死，他们没有耶稣基督，啊我不知道。
In other words，I have a need-to-know basis，this is the only thing I know，you need to know Jesus.换言之，我所知道的是我所需要知道的，我所知道的只不过是你需要认识耶稣。I certainly know that God is wiser than me，more merciful than me，我知道上帝比我更智慧，上帝比我更怜悯，and I do know that when I finally find out how God is dealing with every individual soul，I won’t have any questions about it.我知道，当我最后发现上帝怎么样对待每一个人类的灵魂的时候，我就再没有问题要问了。
Bashir（访问者）: Okay，but if this is the only way to God，and if Christians are heading for a place called “heaven，” does that mean，therefore，by deduction，that millions of Muslims，Sikhs，Hindus，Jews，all of whom hold their faith with enormous integrity，all of them are heading for hell?好了，假如通到上帝的道路唯有这一条的话，而假如基督徒是往着天堂去的话，意思是不是就是说，我们可以推论说：成千上万的回教徒、锡克教徒、印度教徒、犹太教徒他们都有非常好的诚实的人格来坚持他们信仰，他们都是要往地狱那边走呢？
Keller（凯勒的回答）: There’s a lot of people who are born in Indianapolis，Indiana，and they grew up in First Baptist Church there，who are also headed for a Christless eternity.很多在Indiana州的第一浸信会生长长大的人，他们也朝向一个没有基督的永恒走的。Uh，every human being chooses an identity.呃，每一个人都选择他的身份的。
It’s either chosen…，可能是选择的：it’s either based on the grace of God，or it’s basically based on your own performance，and your own ability，and therefore on your own self.要就是根据上帝的恩典或者基本上就是看你的表现、你的能力，因此就是根据你自己喽。And if a billion years from now，you’ve put your hope in the grace of God，假如十亿万年之后，你把你的寄望放在上帝的恩典上，you will be beautiful and happy.你将会是美丽的、快乐的。
If you，a billion years from now，you’ve put your，you’ve based your identity on your own self and your own abilities and your own performance，you’ll be miserable.假如你十亿万年之后，假如你把你的身份放在你自己和你的能力和你的表现上，你就会很可怜了。In fact，you can see it even now.事实上你现在就可以看清楚的。Self-centered people are miserable even now，就算是现在，自我中心的人也是可怜的，not a billion years from now.不需要等到十亿万年之后。
So，there are plenty of people who are raised Christians，there’s plenty of people who were raised in First Baptist Church，but in their hearts，have not turned toward the grace of God.所以有很多人是受到基督教的熏陶的，很多人在第一浸信会长大的，但是他们心中没有转向上帝的恩典的。
People in other religions，在其他宗教里的人，unless they find Christ，I don’t know any other way，除非他们找到基督，我不知道有另外一条路，but I also get information on a need-to-know basis.但是上帝给我的资料也是按照我需要知道的。If there’s some，if there’s some trapdoor，or something like that，I haven’t been told about it.假如有一些，假如有一个后门等等呢，没有人跟我讲过。But I also don’t know.但是我就是不知道。
I guess I want to know this:我猜我想要知道的是：I want to know when a person says，”I need to know everything about how God is going to deal with，you know，all eternity，with all individuals before I can bite down on Christianity，” I feel that you actually are maybe projecting your American democratic individualistic，um，understanding of who…，假如有人说，我需要知道上帝如何对待每一个人，在永恒里对待每一个人，我才愿意咬下去接受基督教的话呢，我觉得你只不过是投射了你的美国的民主的个人主义的呃呃……了解。
You really want a president or a governor or a mayor.你所要的是一个总统、一个州长、一个市长。You don’t really want a king，你不想要有一个君王，and I can understand that，我可以明白，because human kings，human beings，are flawed，and therefore，monarchy was not a very good approach to things.因为人类的君王、人本身是有缺陷的，因此，君主主义从来就不是一个很好的一个办法。But if you have a perfect God，a perfect king，但是假如你有一个十全十美的上帝、十全十美的君王，who comes and suffers in Jesus Christ，then at a certain point，I trust him. 这位完美的君王来在耶稣基督的身上，他受苦在某一点上呢，我会信靠他。
（下面是作者的回应，5方面）here is the authors’ critique，five points，Gutless，毫无勇气
N0. 1第一，A “gospel” based on “if Jesus is who He says He is”?这个所谓“福音”是根据“假如耶稣是祂说祂所是的”？
No. 2 第二，Being a Christian means that your soul has to “get Jesus”?做一个基督徒的意思就是说你的灵魂需要“得到耶稣”？
No. 3 第三，God may have “a trap door” for unbelievers that “I haven’t been told about”?上帝可能有一个“后门”给非基督徒，不过我没有听过呢？Unbelievers are just going to be “miserable” like they are now，a billion years from now? 10亿年之后非信徒只不过是很可怜，好像他现在可怜一样？
No. 4 第四，Eternal damnation means that “we will eternally shrivel”?永恒里的被咒诅的意思就是说“我们在永恒里会畏缩”？
No. 5 第五，“If they die and they don’t have Jesus Christ，I don’t know” what happens to them?假如他们，死他们没有耶稣基督，我不知道他们的情况。
Dear friends，I know twelve-year-olds who could give a better answer than Tim Keller.各位朋友，我认识一些12岁的少年人，他们的答案都会好过提摩太·凯勒的。They would quote just a handful of passages from the living and powerful Word of God that say it all，他们只需要引用一些的经文，就什么都说清楚了。（下面的经文我不读了，I’m not going to read those Bible’s passage。John 3：18-19，约翰福音三章18-19节。John 3：36，约翰3章36节。John 14：6，约翰14章6节。Acts 4：14，使徒行传4章12节。I Timothy 2：5-7，提摩太前书2章5-7节。Romans 3：22-26，罗马书3章22-26节。Romans 10：8-13，罗马书10章8-13节。Revelation 20：15，启示录20章15节。)
Dear friends，this is the Gospel that is “the power of God unto salvation” – not Tim Keller’s gutless pseudo-gospel of evasion and equivocation.朋友们，这个是上帝的大能，使人得救的福音，不是凯勒那种没有勇气的假福音——逃避事实，似是而非。
Clearly，Timothy Keller is ashamed of the one true Gospel，and so he cannot and does not preach it.很明显地，凯勒对福音来说，感觉到羞耻，所以他不能也不宣讲它。
What does Keller preach instead?那取代之的福音，凯勒所宣讲的福音又是什么呢？What does he tell his followers to preach?他告诉他的追随者要讲的福音是什么呢？下面的文章就会解释清楚的，which we shall then look at the following articles.
