我们来到第三章chapter 3的c部分,我们读完了经文。现在我们来看我们的作者克罗尼怎么说?中文是第八十四页,讲义第二部分的第68页
If this survey of the function of the minister has not given you pause,please abandon all thought of becoming a minister. 假如我们上面对牧师的功能的综览,若没有让你再考虑的话,那你就不用想当牧师了. If it has假如有让你反思,be encouraged. 请你不要灰心。To the degree that you are overwhelmed you show a willingness to take the ministry seriously.你在什么程度上觉得沮丧,就在什么程度上表示你对传道事工是认真的。
But a serious question is also raised. 但是这里也浮现出一个严肃的问题。What gifts are necessary for such a calling as this? 面对如此这般的呼召是需要哪一些的恩赐的呢?Dare any man suppose that God is equipping him for such service?还会有谁敢认为上帝正在装备他?从事这样的服侍的呢?
Better and better. 这样想就更加好了。Paul himself cried, “Who is sufficient for these things?” 保罗自己也呼喊这是谁能担当得起呢?Unless you share that confession your conception of the ministry is too low. 除非你好像保罗这样承认,(就是担当不起),不然你对传道事工的概念乃至低估了它。Further, 不但如此,God gives richer graces as his steward is faithful. 上帝的管家若是忠心,祂会赐下更丰富的恩典的。You do not now have all the gifts you will have when the full demands of the ministry fall upon you. 目前你所有的恩赐并不是将来当传道事工一切要求都落在你的肩膀上的时候,当时你会领受的全部的恩赐的。And even then 就算到了那一天you will still be pressing on to lay hold on that for which you were laid hold on by Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:12).就算到了那一天,你仍然是忘记背后,努力面前,要得到耶稣基督所以得着你的(《腓立比书》3章12节)。
If, however, you are not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, 但是,你若不看自己过于所当看的,you must judge whether God is granting to you some firstfruits of his grace in those areas needed for the ministry of the gospel.你必须要判断一下上帝是否已经给你他的恩典的一些的初熟的果子,就是传道事工所需要的恩赐的初熟的果子呢?
What are they?那这些初熟的果子所指的恩赐是什么呢?
They are all a measure of faith.它们都是不同大小的信心(参考罗马书12章)。 A man’s “natural” gifts cannot add up to a probability that he should choose the ministry. 一个人有某一些的天然的才干,不等于他应选择做传道人。God has chosen the weak and foolish, not the mighty and wise, 上帝拣选了软弱的人、愚拙的人,不是有能的或者有智慧的,(I Co 1:27《哥林多前书》一章27节,)so that it might be quite clear that he alone is the Saviour. 为要说明唯独祂是救主。If you are a gifted speaker 你假如是有口才的you should be effective as a lawyer or a salesman, 应该会成为很有效的律师或者推销员,but nothing can be said about your effectiveness as a preacher. 但这一点都不证明你会是一个有效的讲道者。The glib confidence of a ready tongue may be the very pride that bars you from the ministry.油嘴滑舌可能是骄傲,就是这个骄傲让你不适合做传道。 Not one of the apostles was an orator.使徒中没有一位出生就是演说家的。 If God calls you to speak for him, 假如上帝呼召你为他做出口,代言人,the speaking will be made possible. 他必然让这件事情成就的。As God said to Moses when he protested his inarticulateness当摩西提出他不是能言的人的时候,上帝对他说-“Who made man’s mouth?” 人的口是谁造的?(Ex. 4:11出4:11).
That word of God to Moses tells us two things: 上帝对摩西说的那句话告诉我们两件事:all that we have, God has given; all that we need, God will give.我们一切所有的,都是上帝所赐;我们一切所需要的,上帝必定会供给的。 Apart from faith nothing in us can serve God or qualify us for his choice, 假如没有信心,我们一切所有的都不能用来侍奉上帝,都不能成为我们侍奉祂的资格,but by faith 但是借着信心all that we are is consecrated to his service, and all that we shall be.有信心的话,我们一切所是的和一将来一切所是的都分别为圣,用来侍奉祂。
下面第二个题目是受到委身基督的约束bound by the commitment to Christ.
The minister’s gift of faith draws him to a life of commitment to Christ. 牧师信心的恩赐引领他,献上一生委身给基督.We have seen that the calling of discipleship is the calling of the cross. 我们看到做门徒的呼召就是背起十字架的呼召。This must be particularly evident in the life of the minister. 这个在牧师的生命中应该是特别的明显的。Examine your calling in this respect. 你要在这个层面上做自我检讨,检讨你的呼召。Are you a slave of Jesus Christ, 你是否基督的奴仆,already “bound in the spirit” to go wherever he calls you? 灵里面被圣灵捆绑,祂呼召你往何处都愿意的呢?(Acts 20:22《使徒行传》二十章 22节). Are you willing to leave all and follow him, to rejoice in sufferings, to become a fool for Christ’s sake? 你是否愿意放下一切跟从他,在苦难中喜乐,为基督的缘故做愚拙人呢?(1 Cor. 4:9-13《哥林多前书》第四章9到第13节).
第三个题目,信心是用行动,用有纪律的生活来衡量的。
The commitment of faith is measured by action-the ready obedience of spiritual discipline. 信心的委身乃是用行动来衡量的,就是一个从属灵纪律所生出的,随时愿意顺服的心。The minister is a good soldier of Jesus Christ, trained to obey at once 牧师是基督的精兵,受过良好的训练,随时顺从,(II Tim. 2:3, 4《提摩太后书》二章3~4节), a practiced athlete 是熟练的运动员,(I Cor. 9:24-27《哥林多前书》九章24~27节), a hardworking farmer 勤奋的农夫,(II Tim. 2:6)《提摩太后书》二章6节, a faithful steward (I Cor. 4:2《哥林多前书》四章2节). 一个忠心的管家。Growth in this discipline marks Christ’s calling. 在这种的纪律上成长,是基督呼召人的一个记号。Timothy had to be reminded by Paul that God had not given a Spirit who produced fear, but a Spirit of love, power, and discipline保罗需要提醒提摩太上帝所赐的灵,不是胆怯的灵,而是爱、能力和纪律的灵 (II Tim. 1:7 A.R.V.《提摩太后书》第一章第7节)。
第四个题目谦卑柔和。
Commitment to God also produces humility.向上帝委身,同时产生出谦卑的心。 The meekness of Christ 基督的柔和谦卑,must be the pattern of every servant who follows him 必须是所有跟随祂的仆人的模样(II Cor. 10:1; I Pet. 2:21-23《哥林多后书》十章第1节,《彼得前书》第二章,21~23节). Only the commitment of faith bears such fruit.唯有信心的献身委身,才会结出这样子的柔和谦卑的果子。 It is not a cringing servility 这个不是在人面前猥琐的那种的谦卑that fears to condemn evil 不是不敢谴责罪恶的,but a royal meekness 乃是君王的柔和that commits judgment to God and cannot fear men.这种的柔和把审判交托给上帝,同时不怕人。cannot fear men.

第二段:信仰和智慧。
The minister’s commitment of faith must be grounded in the knowledge of faith. 牧师信心的委身必须建造在对信仰的知识这个的根基上。Timothy was nurtured in words of faith and sound doctrine 提摩太在信仰和纯正教义上是受过熏陶的,教义或者中文翻译成道理或者真道。(I Tim. 4:6《提摩太前书》四章第6节). From a child he knew the Holy Scriptures 提摩太从小认识圣经that make men wise to salvation 圣经能使人有智慧以致得救道。(II Tim. 3:15《提摩太后书》三章15节。). The man of God abides in what he has learned 属神的人在他所学的道上会守住的(II Tim. 3:14) and gives himself wholly to them, 同时完全献身在这个真道上so that his progress may appear to all好叫他的进步显明在众人的面前。(1 Tim. 4:15). Calling to the ministry and love of the Bible go together. 蒙召传道和热爱圣经必然是不可分开的。If you do not share the privileges of Timothy’s childhood 假如你没有提摩太那种的特殊的福分(就是从小认识圣经)you have the greater obligation to read and study the Word of God. 你就必须要加倍的负责去研读上帝的话。This habit, so characteristic of Christian faith, takes most specific form in the life of one called to the gospel ministry.这种的习惯(就是热爱勤读圣经),是基督徒信仰生活的典型的特征,那么在蒙召做传道人身上应该是非常的特殊,非常的明显才对的。 He gives himself to both the understanding and the practicing of Scripture.他献身要去了解圣经,实践或者顺服圣经。The knowledge of faith is more than a grasp of Biblical facts. 认识信仰,对信仰的知识不仅仅是掌握到圣经中的事实。It includes a living response to the Biblical message.这种的知识是包含了从生命,生命去回应对圣经的信息的。
This results in that growth in wisdom 结果就是这个人在智慧中会成长。for which the Apostle Paul so often prayed 保罗常常为智慧的成长祷告(Phil. 1:9, 10; 腓1:9,10;Eph. 1:17-19弗1:17-19; Col. 1:9, 10西1:9-10)。Men chosen for leadership in the church of God must have spiritual wisdom. 蒙拣选在上帝的家族领袖的人必须具备属灵的智慧的。那什么是智慧呢?Wisdom is the fruit of applying God’s revelation in Christ to the issues of daily life. 智慧就是把上帝在基督里的启示应用在日常生活的问题上的结果。It discerns the times, 属灵的智慧能够辨别时代,seizes the opportunities, 抓住机会,perceives truth 能够看到真理,and brings error to the test. 查验错误。It is the fruit of spiritual maturity, 这个是属灵成熟所结的果子,but age cannot measure it.但是不能用年龄来衡量的。God gives wisdom to the young as well as the old.上帝将智慧赐给青年的人,不仅仅是给老年人的。 The minister of Christ must admonish every man and teach every man “in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ”. 基督的仆人必须劝勉所有的人,用智慧教导众人,为的是要把每一个人完全的、成熟的献给基督。 (Col. 1:28,西1:28)。
The commitment and wisdom of faith are in a special sense marks of the minister. 委身奉献和信仰的智慧,特别是牧师的标志。In faith and love he grows in the image of Christ, and therefore in holiness. 他在信心和爱心中成长,效法基督的样式的, 因此,换言之,他是在圣洁中成长。His power in the service of God must be drawn from his walk with God. 他服侍上帝的能力必须取自于上帝同行。To be sure, God may use the words of an ungodly preacher to reach sinners with the truth, 当然,上帝有可能也能够使用一个不敬虔的讲道者,向罪人讲话,but a hireling has no real care for the sheep, 但是雇工并没有真正关心羊群,and the natural man does not understand the things of the Spirit of God 属血气的人也不真正晓得上帝的灵的事情(John 10:2; I Cor. 2:14林前2:14).
赐下服侍的能力是圣灵所做的工作,而上帝愿意赐下圣灵给那些向祂求的人。Power for service is the work of the Spirit, and God gives the Spirit to those who ask him (Luke 11:13路11:13; Acts 4:31徒4:31). The minister must be a man who has learned to walk with God in a life of prayer.牧师必须借着一个祷告的人生,学习与上帝同行。 (Eph. 1:16弗1:16)
好,我们来第三个题目,就是牧师是要有爱心的。
Such a man is prepared to serve his fellow men. 这个人随时准备好去服侍别人。Love for God becomes the source of love for men. 爱别人的心源自爱上帝的心。The compassion of Christian service is the compassion of Christ.基督徒服侍中的怜悯心是耶稣基督的怜悯的心。What is done for the least of his brethren is done for Christ. 向基督的弟兄中最小的小子所做的就是为耶稣基督所做的。Paul was a mother (Gal. 4:19), a father (I Cor.4:14, 15; II Cor. 9:2), a brother (Gal. 4:12; 6:1) to those whom he served.保罗对他所服事的人是母亲、是父亲、是兄弟。 In the agony of love he bore the burdens of the churches, 保罗带着悲伤的爱心担当众教会的重担(林后11:28-29),and would have been willing to be accursed from Christ for the sake of his unbelieving fellow-Jews (Rom. 9:3). 他为他的犹太人同胞得救,宁愿被基督咒诅(罗9:3)。
This is far more than meeting people easily or enjoying social occasions. 这个绝对不仅仅是很轻松地与别人相遇,或者享受社交的场合。The minister must stand beside Christ 牧师必须站在耶稣的身旁,as did the first disciples 就好像门徒们一样,站在耶稣的旁边and see him looking at the multitudes. 看祂如何看群众。Until a man has that vision he is not ready for the ministry.人若还没有这个意向,就还没有预备好要做传道人。 He cannot condemn sinners until he can first weep over them. 除非他能够先为罪人流泪,不然不能谴责他们(路19:41-48)。The hospitality a minister must show (I Tim. 3:2), his friendliness and gentleness (I Tim.2:24, 25) are rooted in his desire to be all things to all men that by all means he might save some (1 Cor. 9:22).传道人必须乐意款待客人,必须友善、温柔,这些都植根于愿意向什么人就做什么人,为了总要得一些人。The minister of Jesus Christ serves the one who was sent to seek and to save that which was lost.耶稣基督的仆人所服侍的就是那位被差遣来寻求拯救世上的人的主(可10:45)。
那怎么样去爱呢?
The minister’s love for men is exercised through particular gifts that he has for dealing with them. 牧师对众人的爱心,乃是透过他特别领受的用来对待人的那些的恩赐,来施行这个爱心的。He must have, first, the gift of teaching 首先他必须有具有教导的恩赐的(II Tim. 2:2, 24; I Tim.3:2; Eph. 4:11; Col. 1:28, 29). We have just seen that as a man of faith he must himself abide in God’s Word.我们上面已经看到他作为一个有信心的人,必须经常浸淫在上帝的话语里面。But teaching is more than insight or understanding.可是教导不仅仅是对圣经的理解或者一些的洞见。 It includes the ability to communicate spiritual truth. 它包括懂得怎么传达属灵真理的能力。
- 要先听,实行神的话,然后应用神的话。James warns men against too readily supposing that they have this gift 雅各警告,不要鲁莽的假设你已经有这个教导的恩赐了(James 3:1, 2). The man who teaches must first be a hearer and then a doer of God’s law of liberty (James 1:19-25).教导别人的人必须先是一个聆听上帝的话,并且遵循上帝使人自由的律法的人。
The teacher is a workman.教师就好像一个工匠,一个工程师。 Like a farmer he plants and waters in God’s field; 好像农夫一样,他在上帝的田里面耕种浇水;like an artisan 好像一个工匠he constructs the house of God 他建造上帝的殿(I Cor. 3:5-15). If he uses shoddy materials-假如他用一些非常低级的材料,–wood, hay, stubble草木禾秸—he may achieve a temporary effect, 可能暂时会有果效,but his workmanship will not stand in the day of judgment. 但是他的工夫在审判之日肯定站立不住的。Only the endless toil of building in gold, silver, and precious stones upon the one foundation, Jesus Christ, establishes a structure that will survive the flood and the flame.唯有不断的劳苦,用金银宝石来建造,在那位唯一的根基–耶稣耶稣基督之上建造,才能够建立一座经得起水火熬炼的房子。
Like a householder, 牧师好像一个管家,the teacher brings out of his treasure things new and old 从他的宝藏里面拿出新的和旧的东西来(太. 13:52). He is a scribe of the kingdom 牧师是天国的文士who can interpret the Word of God and pursue a right course through the Word of truth 他能够诠释上帝的话,并且在真理的道上追寻一条正的路。(提后 2:15). He sees the “outline of sound words,”他能够看到“纯正道理的规模”, discerning the great pattern of the gospel of Christ in all the Scriptures. 在整本圣经每一部分都看到基督的福音的样式或模范。Through the indwelling Spirit he is a guardian of the deposit of God’s truth (II Tim. 1:14). 借着内住的圣灵祂是上帝存放在教会里的真理Deposit的维护者(请注意中文圣经没有翻译“存放或者交托”,只是说交托而已)。He is able to defend the truth against sophisticated attack and the antitheses of false knowledge (I Tim. 6:20).当人很微妙的攻击上帝的道的时候,用假知识与它对立的时候,它能够维护真理。
Above all, 最重要的是,he can apply God’s Word to the needs of the hearers with all long suffering and teaching 他能够用诸般的忍耐和教导把上帝的话应用在听众的需要上(提后4:2). He does not engage in useless controversy 他不会纠缠在无用的辩论中but quietly and faithfully corrects the errors of those who oppose themselves (II Tim. 2:25).反之安静的、忠心的去纠正那些敌对上帝的话的人。
He does not trim his message to please his hearers;他不会剪裁他的信息来讨好听众; rather he keeps back nothing that they need to know but declares to them the whole counsel of God那些对他的听众有益的事情,他不会避讳不讲,相反的,他会向他们宣讲上帝全盘的计划 (徒 20:27请注意在这里,中文圣经没有翻上帝的全盘计划,和合本只说上帝的旨意). As Christ gave to men the words the Father gave him, 正如基督把父所交托祂的话都传给人了,so Christ’s minister gives to men the words of Christ, 同样的基督的仆人,就是牧师,把基督所讲的话传递人accurately,准确的传出去, tactfully很有智慧的表达,fully完整的交托了, and pointedly针对性的交托 (提后 4:1).
A second ability is joined to teaching. 还有另外一个恩赐是与教导的恩赐联结的。The minister must be able to rule, to lead men. 牧师必须能够治理教会,能够领导别人。Here his spiritual maturity is required. 在这里,治理这件事情上,牧师必须是一个成熟的人。The flippant, cocky adolescent should not talk too confidently of his call to the ministry. 那个话语多多,自信心膨胀的少年人,不可以过分相信自己是一位蒙召做牧师做传道的。Trué, youth should not be despised 不错,教会不可以轻看年轻人,(I Tim. 4:12-although Timothy’s “youth” has been estimated at 38 years!不过提摩太当时已经是38岁的了!), but youth gains respect by exemplary behavior, not by clamoring for recognition. 青年人必须透过行为上做榜样来得到尊敬,而不是只是闹着要别人注意他,认可他。Soberness and responsibility go together (I Tim. 3:2; II Tim. 4:5). 警醒和得到职责是并行的。(就是你想要得到牧师的位份吗?必须Sober做个警醒的人。)Pastoral sobriety means alertness, watchfulness, realism. 牧师的警醒就意味着要有警觉、守望,面对事实。(就是面对符合事实的现实主义。)The drunk is either dead to the world or living on the moon with pink elephants. 酗酒的人对世界是麻木的,或是活在一个虚幻的世界里。Worldly ministers are similarly nodding; 同样这些属世的、这些世俗化的牧师也是沉睡的;they do not perceive onrushing peril; 他们没有察觉到大难当头;they sound no alarm to rouse the sleepers. 也没有响起警钟唤醒其他沉睡的人。Their split-level dreams of plenty and pleasure are illusion; not realism. 中产阶级的富裕之梦是一个虚幻;不是现实。Soberness is realism.警醒是面对事实符合事实的。
我们下次再在这里看什么叫做符合事实,面对现实。
