Called to the ministry –section 28《天命与你》第二十八讲

我们在解释真的智慧所知道的神的旨意,是要懂得分辨上帝的预定、上帝的护理,这个就是申命第二十九章29节所说“隐秘的事”和上帝的启示,祂的命令那个是“明显的事”参考《申命记》29:29。我们继续。

When Peter tells us that it is God’s will that by well-doing we should silence the ignorant charges of foolish men he is speaking of the commandment of God. 当彼得说上帝的旨意乃是要我们行善,借此塞住愚拙人无知的控告的时候,彼得所指的是上帝的诫命。 (I Pet.2:15彼前2:15,我们从第十三节开始读:你们为主的缘故,要顺服人的一切制度,或是在上的君王,或是君王所派、罚恶赏善的臣宰。因为 神的旨意原是要你们行善,可以堵住那糊涂无知人的口。这个是上帝的命令,上帝的诫命。) He then says in the next chapter,然后在接下来下一章第三章,彼得说: “For it is better,if the will of God should so will,that ye suffer for well-doing than for evil doing” 彼前3:17). 彼得这样说:“上帝的旨意,若是要你们因行善受苦,总强如因行恶受苦。”(这个是一个原则,具体的上帝没有显明,所以这个算是上帝的预旨。)Here he is speaking of the rule of God. 这里彼得所指的乃是上帝的主权或者护理。

God’s will in this sense 从这个意义上来看上帝的旨意includes the death of Christ,to which Peter refers (v. 18,see Acts 2:23),这种的上帝的旨意就包括基督的死,这个是彼得所论到的。(参考第十八节,《彼得前书》三章18节,《使徒行传》二章23节)and the sufferings of Christians. 也包括基督徒的受苦。(这个是上帝所预定的旨意。)We do not know as we are known; 我们所晓得的就不像被上帝所晓得那种的晓得;we cannot understand the mystery of God’s decrees.我们不可能认识上帝奥秘的预旨。 We only know that 我们所知道的就是这个God used the cross,上帝用了十字架,the greatest crime of history,人类历史最邪恶的罪行,to bring redemption,用十字架带来救赎,and that no suffering enters our lives that does not bring with it grace now and a weight of glory in the future. 而我们基督徒所经历的一切的苦难必在今生带来恩典,将来带来大荣耀。

The distinction between the Word of God that we hear and the hand of God that we trust is most important for our proving of God’s will. 能够分辨我们所听到的上帝的话(就是圣经的指示)和我们所信靠上帝的恩手(上帝的护理)这个对我们查验上帝的旨意是最为重要的。Our task is to determine what is right,not to divine what will happen. 我们的责任是要看清怎么样做是对的,不是预测将来会发生什么事。(上帝不要我们做基督徒的占卜,知道我们当如何行是我们分内的事。)We interpret the situation by God’s Word; 我们根据上帝的话语去诠释我们所面对的处境;we do not adjust God’s commandments to the situation. 我们不可以调整上帝的诫命,来适应我们的处境的。To prove God’s will means to discover how his revealed will applies to our present situation. 查验上帝的旨意的意思就是我们要发现上帝所启示的旨意是如何应用在我们现今的处境。

Do you remember the disobedience of King Saul?还记得旧约扫罗王怎么样不顺服吗?Samuel the prophet had not come at the appointed time; 先知撒母耳没有按时到达;the Philistine host had camped at Micmash; 腓利士人的军队已经扎营;Saul’s army was melting away. 扫罗的军队丧胆了。Saul could wait no longer for the man of God. 扫罗不能再等下去,等上帝的人来了。He offered the sacrifices himself,祂擅自的献祭,disobeying God’s commandment. 这样祂就违背了上帝的命令。Was not Saul’s action justified by the circumstances? 扫罗的行动从处境来看,岂不是可以理解的吗?So he pleaded with Samuel later;祂就是这样子后来与撒母耳自我辩护的; but God rejected him as king但是上帝拒绝了祂的王位。 (I Sam. 13:13,14《撒母耳记上》13:13-14: 撒母耳对扫罗说:“你作了糊涂事了,没有遵守耶和华你 神所吩咐你的命令。若遵守,耶和华必在以色列中坚立你的王位,直到永远。现在你的王位必不长久。耶和华已经寻着一个合祂心意的人,立祂作百姓的君,因为你没有遵守耶和华所吩咐你的。”). His action was not wisdom 扫罗所行的不是智慧but foolishness.乃是愚笨。

Satan reasoned with Jesus 撒旦这样子和耶稣理论that he should be guided by the circumstances in the wilderness. 旷野的处境应该引导耶稣如何做。God had brought him there by the driving of the Spirit,上帝用圣灵将祂带到这个地方but God had provided no food. 但并没有供给食物。Surely he did not intend that the Son of God should perish of hunger.上帝的旨意肯定不可能是让祂的儿子在这里饿死的。 Let Christ then use his power as the Son to deliver himself from suffering.让基督行使祂身为圣子的权能,搭救自己脱离饥饿吧。 Let him make the stones into bread. 让祂把石头变为面包吧。Christ’s reply must seal our daily behavior; 基督的答复必须作为引导我们行为的印证;”It is written,Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God”(Matt. 4:4《马太福音》第四章第四节,看耶稣怎么回答魔鬼:耶稣却回答说,“经上记着说,人活着不是单靠食物,乃是靠上帝口里所出的话。”

Jesus quoted the Word of God 耶稣引用了上帝的话and obeyed it,并且顺从了这话,and结果什么呢? as God had cared for his people in the desert so he now cared for his Son. 结果是正如上帝在旷野中照顾祂的百姓有所供应,现在同样的照顾祂的爱子。Angels came 天使来了and ministered unto him.伺候祂。Living by God’s Word means obeying the word of his commandment and trusting the word of his decree to deliver us at last. 根据上帝的话而行的意思就是说:顺服上帝话语的命令,同时信靠上帝的意旨、上帝的带领,最终必定会搭救我们的。

Yet,不过,while we cannot discover what is right from the situation,we must discover what is right in the situation. 虽然我们不能从处境本身看出当行的是什么,但是必须看出在这个处境里,当如何行(就是应用上帝的话)。There are two elements in every conviction as to duty: 我们在每一个信念里面有两个因素,这两个都是指出我们的责任的:what God’s Word says and what the situation is.上帝的话怎么说?第二我们所面对的处境是什么。 God’s Word is infallible,上帝的话是无谬无误的,but our understanding and application of it are not. 可是我们对上帝话语的理解和应用却不是无谬的。The level of our spiritual maturity,our growth in grace,will affect the degree of wisdom with which we understand the application of the Word to our problems. 我们有什么程度上的成熟,我们在什么程度上在恩典上成长,都影响着我们的智慧,影响着我们怎么理解上帝的话,怎么样应用上帝的话在我们的问题上。

第四个题目:Total person grow 是我标的标题,全人的成长。Mind and feelings 理性情感都要成长,wisdom and love 智慧和爱心都要成长。

好,下面克罗尼跟我们讲分辨的能力会成长的,记得吗?智慧认识神都是活的 personal,是亲自的认识,亲自的分辨。既然是有生命的,人去在智慧上成长,所以当然是有一个成长的过程。

Discernment grows with wisdom.分辨的能力乃是与智慧一同增长的。

This ought not to dismay us,我们不应该因此而沮丧,for the Lord knows our needs. 因为主知道我们的需要的。He does not permit temptations to come upon us that we cannot bear,祂允许试探临到我们不是过于我们所能担当的,and his hand corrects us and leads us back into the paths of righteousness,for his name’s sake. 祂的恩手会纠正我们,带着我们走回到义的路上,为祂自己的名的缘故。(那这里有当然有一段非常的重要,也是很著名的经文,就是《哥林多前书》第十章第13节,我们所面对的事情不是过于我们所能够担当的,不用怕!《哥林多前书》第十章13节:“你们所遇见的试探,无非是人所能受的。 神是信实的,必不叫你们受试探过于所能受的。在受试探的时候,总要给你们开一条出路,叫你们能忍受得住。

《诗篇》23篇:“祂引导我走义路。”对不对?)Sometimes Christians speak of each decision oftheir lives as though they were launching a moon-shot where a single miscalculation would send the capsule into a trackless void. 有时候基督徒说到要所做的抉择的时候,就好像太空的火箭发射那么的复杂,一点儿差错就让这个太空船呢就而飞到虚无里了。Even space scientists do better than that,连太空科学家也不会这样想的,correcting the fight of their space-probes by radioed signals. 他们会用雷达发出讯号,不断的纠正这个太空船的行程。God does much better.上帝的方法就远比太空科学家更好了。 He knows 祂知道that we are often incapable of distinguishing trivial decisions from momentous ones,我们往往不能分辨哪些的是重大的决定,哪些是微不足道的and that we are foolish and imperceptive. 祂知道我们的愚蠢到往往没有洞察力。He knows-祂都知道and keeps us in his hand.同时保守我们在祂的恩手中。

There we may trust,我们在祂恩手的保护上,可以信靠祂,even when we do not understand. 虽然当我们不明白的时候,还是可以信祂的恩手的。(好,下面克罗尼跟我们讲关于感觉的问题或者记号,就是羊毛湿羊毛干的问题。)We cannot look for certainty in every decision. 我们不能在每一次做抉择的时候都有完全的把握,完全的确定性。If we always knew,我们若每次都知道,if we always had a strong assurance that a given action was the only right course,我们若每次都有把握知道所采取的行动是唯一正确的,we would not learn to trust God in the midst of suffering and darkness. 那么我们就不会学习在苦难和黑暗中信靠上帝了。

To demand complete certainty is to run grave risks. 我们若要要求每次决策都有完全的把握,是很冒险的。we may make our own emotional states or convictions a private Urim and Thummim,我们就可能用了自己的感觉或者自己的信念作为一个私有的乌陵和土明,concluding that an action cannot be God’s will because we do not ”feel right’about it,我们会可能认为因为自己没有某一种的感觉,某一种的行动就不可能是上帝的旨意,or plunging into some enterprise because we have interpreted our own strong impulse as the Lord’s leading. 或者我们投入某一项的工作项目,因为我们把自己的冲动当作是上帝的带领。(基督徒岂不是往往就是这样做的吗?)We must remember我们必须记得 that the Holy Spirit sanctifies us 圣灵是要使我们成圣的but does not give us new revelations. 但圣灵没有给我们新的启示。Our convictions must be grounded on God’s Word. 我们的信念必须建立在上帝话语的基础上。We are illumined to understand it,but not inspired to write it.我们是被圣灵光照,明白上帝的话,但是我们没有被圣灵的默示去写下上帝的话。

This is not at all to say that feelings are unimportant.但是这个完全不是说感觉不重要,完全不是这样子的。The wisdom that discerns what is pleasing to God is the believing response of the whole person,not a detached academic exercise. 能够分辨什么是讨神的喜悦那种的智慧,是整个人用信心作出的回应,不仅仅是理性所操作的作业。(比如说第一个例子)How often have you been surprised by your own instant reaction to a sudden situation. 你岂不曾经历过,因为自己对一个突然而来的情况,做出一个回应,而感觉到这个回应是令你惊奇的吗。Only much later were you able to analyze the reasoning implicit in your response.很久之后我们才会分析自己的思想,就那次作出回应背后的思想。(第二个例子) Similarly,a sense of uneaseoften witnesses to a violated conscience. 同理的,有时候我们会感觉到不安,没有平安,这个是良心亏损的证据。

Joy and peace are Christ’s gifts to those who seek to do his will. 对那些寻求遵循基督的旨意的人,祂赐下喜乐和平安,这些的赏赐。You may confidently thank God for these blessings as you continue in his service. 当你继续服侍主的时候,可以充满了信心为心中的喜乐平安感谢上帝。They abound as God’s will is discerned,当你查验上帝的旨意的时候,喜乐和平安会增多,and true wisdom takes account of such fruits of grace.而真智慧会考虑到,上帝恩典会结出这些的平安喜乐的果子的。 God has not authorized us,how-ever,to use such evidences of his goodness as a system of signals for discerning our course of action. 但是上帝并没有批准我们把这些恩典的证据,喜乐平安作为一系列的记号,用来查验自己当行之路。We are being proved in our deeds; God is not to be proved.我们在我们的行为上是被上帝查验的,但是我们不可以查验上帝。 The child of God will yet cry with the psalmist,上帝的儿女仍然会好像诗人这样子发出呼喊 (Ps. 88:14诗篇88:14).  “Lord,why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?” “耶和华啊!你为何丢弃我?为何掩面不顾我?”God’s answer comes: 上帝做出回答:(Isa. 50:10赛50:10)”Who is among you that feareth the Lord,that obeyeth the voice of his servant,that walketh in darkness,and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord,and stay upon his God” 。“你们中间谁是敬畏耶和华、听从他仆人之话的,这人行在暗中,没有亮光,当倚靠耶和华的名,仗赖自己的上帝。

We live by faith,not sight,我们活着是凭信心,不是凭看见的,(II Co.5:7林后5:7:因我们行事为人是凭着信心,不是凭着眼见。)and the pilgrim of faith sometimes must go out without knowing his immediate destination.(空) It is enough that he journeys toward the city whose builder and maker is God. 天路客往上帝所造的天上的城前进,这样就够了。(参考《希伯来书》第十一章第10节)God will hear his prayer for wisdom and he will direct his steps. 信徒祷告求智慧,上帝会应允的,上帝会指引他的脚步。

第五个题目:怎么样来查验你的呼召跟你的事工呢?Discerning your call and ministry.

How,then,in the wisdom of faith,ought you to consider your calling of Christ?那么你有了信心和智慧,又该如何考虑基督在你身上的呼召的呢? One thing is clear:一件事情是清楚的: your calling is total. 你的呼召是全人的呼召。Every Christian is called to “full-time service.” 每个基督徒都蒙召“全时间服侍”的。He must say with Paul,他必须与保罗一起说”To me to live is Christ” “对我来说,活着就是基督。”(腓. 1:21). It is not enough to be willing to give your life to Christ,愿意把你的生命献给基督这个还不够,you must take up your cross and follow him. 你必须背起你自己的十字架来跟随祂的。The spiritual service of every Christian is to present himself as a living sacrifice and in that total dedication to prove the acceptable will of God (Rom.12: 1,2). 每一个基督徒理应理所当然的服事,就是把自己献上当做活祭,所以在这个全人奉献的大前提之下,这样子来查验上帝可喜悦的旨意的。(罗12:1-2)

Only such dedication proves God’s will in the Christian’s life.唯有做出这样子的贡献,才能够在生命中查验上帝的旨意。那么究竟做哪一种的事工呢what kind of service? But what determines the form of his service?但是如何决定你服事的形式呢?Paul goes on to deal with that question. 保罗继续讨论这个问题。The particular service a man is called to give is determined by the gifts he has received一个人蒙召要从事什么的服事,乃是由所领受的恩赐所决定的。 (罗. 12:3-8). The man who would prove God’s will must learn to think soberly about his own gifts. 愿意查验上帝旨意的人必须学习,要很谨慎的思考上帝所赐给他的恩赐。He must not think too highly of himself 不可以看自己过于所当看的but understand the measure of the spiritual gifts of faith that have been granted him. 必须明白上帝所赐给祂的信心是多么的大小。The greater his gifts,the greater his responsibility. 恩赐越大,责任则越重。

This principle of stewardship in Christ’s kingdom leads us to an unavoidable conclusion: 在基督国度里做一个好管家的原则,导致我们做出如下的结论:(这句话很重要!很重要!很重要!)The call of the Word of God to the gospel ministry comes to ALL those who have the gifts for such a ministry.上帝在传福音事工上的呼召,临到所有祂所赐这个恩赐的人,是上帝赐这些恩赐给这些人,每一个都已经被上帝呼召了。

These gifts are bestowed by the risen Christ这些都是复活的基督所赐下的恩赐 for the building of his church,the in gathering of the nations to his name. 为了要建立建造祂的教会,招聚万国归到祂的名下。No man dare wrap such gifts in a napkin. 没有人敢隐藏这些恩赐,把它包在一个餐巾里面。In possessing this rich enduement of the Spirit a man is himself possessed.当这个人拥有就是具备圣灵所丰富赐予的恩赐的时候,他已经被圣灵拥有了掌管了,(克罗尼就用Possessing拥有这个字,用两次,一个是人拥有圣灵所赐的恩赐,另外是圣灵拥有这个人。) He is made debtor 他已经成为一个负债的人了to all those who may hear the gospel from his lips. 对于那些因为他的口而听到福音的人,他欠他们的债。They cannot hear without a preacher,没有讲道的,他们就不会听道,he cannot preach except he be sent. 他若不被差遣,就不能讲道。(分别在《罗马书》第一章跟第十章)But if he has such gifts from Christ he is sent. 但是他假如有从基督而来的恩赐的话,他已经被差遣了。Shall a man who is “apt to teach” be silent when the Lord commands his church to teach all nations? 当主既然吩咐祂的教会要教导万国,一个能讲福音的人岂能沉默呢?

There is no new principle here.这里并没有什么新的原则。 A man must do all he can to serve his Saviour.一人必须尽祂所能来服侍他的救主。 The servant is not greater than his Lord: 仆人不可能比主人更:if Jesus Christ came to seek and to save that which was lost,假如主耶稣来寻求拯救失丧的人,those who are sent in his name must seek what he sought-and seeks. 那么那些奉祂的名被差遣的人就必须寻求基督来要寻找的人,也是基督今天仍然在寻找的人。Not all are gifted as teachers.当然不是每个人都领受这个做教导的恩赐的。Many are called to work with their hands 很多基督徒被基督呼召要用手来劳碌,that they may provide for their families,来支持他们的家人,give to the needy,好叫他们能够救济有需要的人,and support with temporal blessings those who have labored to bring them spiritual blessings 也支持那些为了万国蒙福而劳苦的人。(平信徒有各种的恩赐的,要劳碌工作。参考的经文有帖后3:10-12,帖前4:11,《以弗所书》4:28,《提多书》3:8,14.)Such “laymen” 这些所谓平信徒confess Christ before men,在人面前承认基督,give a reason for the faith that is in them,为他们自己心里面的信心跟盼望说出原由来,and by their godly lives appear as lights in the world. 藉着敬虔的生活在世界上做光。(经文我们都很熟悉的,《马太福音》五章14-16节,《腓立比书》二章15节,《彼得前书》三章16节)

But every Christian must use to the full the gifts Christ has given him for the great task of the church in the world. 但是每一位基督徒都必须全然地尽用基督所赐给他的恩赐.为了成就教会在世界上的伟大任务。

下次我们继续来讲,做传道的跟其他的都有恩赐,有了恩赐,就尽然的使用恩赐来服侍。
